About Us

Internal Audit, Risk & Compliance (IARC) serves as a proactive partner with University management. IARC’s goal is to enhance internal controls and compliance mechanisms while supporting the University’s core values of collaboration, academic excellence, discovery and innovation, integrity, openness and inclusion, and sustainability. IARC works to identify and mitigate risks which may impair the University’s ability to achieve its core values. Internal Audit (IA) provides independent and objective assurance and consulting services to the University. Risk & Compliance (RC) assists management in building compliance consciousness in business processes, including promoting communication and coordination regarding compliance and risk management. IARC promotes integrity among the people of the University with a purpose of improving the University’s operations and recommending action to grow the University.

Location

The Office of Internal Audit, Risk and Compliance is located in Rooms 2127 & 2129 of the Hollis Building on the Statesboro Campus.

She began serving as Chief Audit Officer in April 2021. She attained bachelor degrees in Business Administration in Accounting and Management, with a minor in Fraud Examination, from Georgia Southern University. She holds the professional designation of Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), and she is a member of The Institute of Internal Auditors, the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, and the Association of College and University Auditors.

He began serving as Senior Auditor in July 2022. He attained a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Georgia Southern University. Sterling’s experience includes four years as a Loss Prevention Manager with Belk. He holds the professional designation of Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) and The Institute of Internal Auditors IT General Controls Certificate. He is a member of The Institute of Internal Auditors, the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, and the Association of College and University Auditors.

Kesha’s experience includes 12 years as a Compliance Comptroller and Auditor for Georgia Power Company. She is a member of The Institute of Internal Auditors and the Association of College and University Auditors.

After consolidation, she became the Director of Risk & Compliance in the expanded Office of Internal Audit, Risk & Compliance. She attained a Bachelor of Business Administration in Public Accounting from Georgia Southern University. Kelly’s audit experience spans public accounting, manufacturing, financial services, and education. She holds the professional designations of Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) and Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) and is a Registered Neutral with the Georgia Office of Dispute Resolution. She is a member of The Institute of Internal Auditors.
